Can I practice without attending a class ? |
The MBCT program has been developed to follow a
structure that includes attending a class once a week throughout the
course, where you have the benefit of being able to discuss with the
teacher how the meditation practice is going. It is this combination
of class-led and home-based meditation practice that has been proven
to combat depression so successfully. At the moment there are not
many classes available in the healthcare system, leading some people
to take the initiative to look after their moods on their own. You
can do this by working through the program as outlined in
“The Mindful Way Through Depression”, which includes a CD of
mindfulness practices used in the program.
If, in time, you hear that MBCT is being offered
locally, then we do recommend that you participate in the class and
experience going through it with others, often a powerful source of
learning in itself.
